Three Dietary Restrictions You May Need to Accommodate

As a team leader or manager, it might be a fun idea to create a party where everyone on your team feels invited and included once everyone can return to the office. If you’re planning an office party or event, be sure to ask about all of your guests’ dietary needs well ahead of time. Read on to learn a little more about some of the most common dietary restrictions you may need to accommodate before you order corporate catering in Newtown, PA.

  • Allergies. Most people know someone who has some form of allergies. Allergies to pollen, pet dander, and dust are amongst some of the most common in the country. However, many people are allergic to foods—and allergies to food can sometimes result in severe reactions that often require hospitalization. Tree nuts, shellfish, and wheat are some of the most common food allergies. Be sure to ask each member of your team if they have any allergies before you order your corporate catering.
  • Vegetarianism/Veganism. Vegetarians are men and women who don’t eat any form of meat, poultry, game, or other types of slaughtered animals. Some vegetarians may consume fish, eggs, and milk products, while others don’t. Most vegetarian diets include hearty portions of fruits, vegetables, grains, pulses, nuts and seeds. If someone chooses to consume no animal meat or animal byproducts, such as milk and eggs, they may consider themselves a vegan. If someone in your office eats a vegetarian diet, you may want to consider including meat-free salads as an option.
  • Gluten-free. Gluten is a protein found in many of the grains we eat every day. However, people with celiac disease or certain autoimmune diseases can suffer severe damage to their intestines if they consume gluten. If a person follows a gluten-free diet, it means that he or she cannot consume any food that contains wheat, barley, or rye. Grain options for men and women who follow a gluten-free diet may include corn, rice and quinoa, which don’t seem to cause the same problems as wheat, barley, or rye.
